www.voichenko.kiev.uaOlga Voichenko is one of the bext jazz singers in Ukraine. She participated in numerous local and international contests. In particular, she's the winner of grand-prix of "Asakusa Jazz Contest".
"Magic Dreams" album is her second solo effort (the first one was issued in far 1999). The CD features the real bunch of wonderful musicians. Here are some of them:
- Arkadiy Shilkloper - the world best jazz french horn player (ex-Vienna Art Orchestra)
- Rodion Ivanov - keyboards (Unity, Gaytana, Via Gra, Maria Burmaka)
- Denis Dudko - bass (Okean Elzy, ex-Skhid Side)
- Oleksandr Lebedenko - drums (Via Gra, ex-Skhid Side)
- Yuriy Shepeta - keyboards (Taisiya Povaliy)
- Rustem Bari - percussion (Enver Izmaylov trio)
The album introduces mostly the music by Olga Voichenko and guitar player Sergey Kapelyushok. But the CD also contains two interesting renditions of jazz standards "My Favourite Things" and "Them There Eyes". Several compositions are close to Pet Metheny's works in arrangements and general mood. But yet there are some extremely curious experiments like "The Talk With The Rain" (singer's solo piece which reveals her impeccable vocal abilities in full measure).
